There are many spiritual teachers today who are opening our world to a higher state of consciousness. One of perhaps the most profound ones included in this group is none other than Eckhart Tolle.
Eckhart has been a personal favorite teacher of mine, since about 2 and a half years ago, when I first discovered his book “A New Earth“. Immediately this book made a profound impact on my life because I clicked with everything it said. All of a sudden doors and windows opened up and a fresh breeze came through my entire being. And talk about the “aha” moments that connected all the dots for me.
Then last year, Oprah featured Eckhart not only on her show, but carried out with him a 10-week interactive webcast seminar, based on his book “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (Oprah’s Book Club, Selection 61).” Millions of people were exposed to Eckhart’s teachings and millions of lives began to change around the world.
This year Eckhart has come out with something new to reach and teach more of the world out there – Eckhart Tolle TV. This venture has just been released on July 1st of this year, 2009 and will no doubt be reaching many more people out there and awakening them to their highest sense of being.
For those of you not familiar, Eckhart’s teachings revolve around perhaps the most critical issues to human kind right now- the ego and consciousness.
As humanity we have misunderstood the greater purpose of life for far too long. We have let our divine self completely identify with the ego and have entered a state of dire unconsciousness. Many of us run around each day, all day and every day and have no idea that 99% of all that we do is completely unconscious.
We think unconsciously, we eat, drive, work, love and parent unconsciously. Unfortunately many of us still do not see that. So how do you know you are living life unconsciously? There is one sure way to know, and it is never by telling yourself you are or you are not. All you need to do is look at your life and ask yourself the following questions:
Do you see life as a struggle?
Do you feel you were put here to live out some hard lessons, only to pass on and rest in a place called Heaven?
Do you hold people and situations in your life accountable for your happiness or lack thereof?
Do you feel you need to protect yourself, those around you and your possessions at any cost?
Do you fear what the future may bring?
I can think of many more questions, but those are key ideas that surround conscious living. If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, you are not living life out of the divine state of consciousness that you have within you. This is nothing you need to feel “bad” about, or bring your ego into it and and start getting all defensive about it. Well actually if you do, that will be yet another indicator for you of how much you are living from the ego. For more information about the topic of consciousness, I also invite you to read a previous article I wrote entitled “Redefining Consciousness.”
So like I was saying, if you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, do not feel bad. Instead begin your journey of awakening today. Begin asking questions that you never dared to ask. Begin questioning everything you have been lead to believe from the food you eat to how you see God. Begin the process of shedding the roles you play, to expose the magnificent and divine being that you are. Begin seeking your personal truth.
Today more than ever, it is time we start living our own personal truths and stop living life through the rules, ideals and paradigms of a few others, who let their egos dictate their own and our lives. Free yourself.
You can start reading books. You can start seeking teachers that resonate with you. You can start seeking people, perhaps meeting groups, perhaps new friends that are also seeking a new and better way. And let me assure you, it does exist.
Life is beautiful and perfect – no matter what you see happening out there. Because what you see happening out there is nothing more than the actions of the unconscious minds of others, and so you think this is how it is supposed to be and always will be, but it isn’t. Heaven is here and now. If you cannot fathom that yet today, all I can say is just be patient and don’t close yourself to the idea of that, for one day you may surprise yourself with what you find.
Life was not meant to be a struggle. Life was not meant to be lived in fear. And life was definitely not meant to be wasted on things that stagnate and do not evolve your soul. Thus free yourself to live the life that your soul came here for.
There is a change of consciousness happening on the Earth as we speak. Every single spiritual teacher today knows this. All the rest of us need to do is look around. Something is happening. Something big is happening. There are changes that are stirring all of us within. They are bringing great discomfort to some. But that discomfort is necessary for the awakening. As Eckhart says:
“We have lived in a state of unconsciousness for long period of time and that state of consciousness is no longer working. It is becoming self-destructive. And if there is no shift in consciousness, humanity may very well self-destruct. The question for us as a species is ultimately, evolve or die.”
Eckhart Tolle
These words are not meant to be another “fear based” dogma, so please do not take them as such. Read them again and again until you see, that they are rooted in love, to awaken. They are nothing more, than your own personal alarm clock. There is nothing to be afraid of because no matter what route we all choose, eventually we will all end up in the same place. The only difference is some of us are going to have more pleasant and shorter paths than others. The choice is yours.
No matter what, the current state of our health, our economy, our food production, our environment, our governments and so much more is coming to a climax. We simply cannot continue the way we have been living and that is why we see all that is not serving the greater good crumbling. And again there is no need to fear this. This is the change that is necessary so that new and better things can take their place, ones that serve all of the beings on this planet.
Throughout the history of time, people have looked at others who seem to have an “easy” type of life (and I do not mean monetarily) and exclaimed that they are just “lucky” or something like that. But ultimately luck has nothing to do with it. It is those that open themselves up to a new way of life, to a new way of looking at things, who are the ones that we consider “lucky” or that have the lives we consider “easy”.
So this is what Eckhart Tolle TV is all about – continuing to bring the message of how to move from a state of unconscious, ego-based living, into a life of divine consciousness.
Eckhart Tolle TV is membership based, but also offers some free features. For example check out the 3 free videos from him about this new initiative, the current economy and about understanding personal responsibility, which can be found on the home page.
Now I know right away there will be some out there who exclaim, that if this is for the awakening of humanity, then why is it a paid membership based service? Well let me ask you this, many people go to churches around the world, where they give money each week, sometimes it is even “politely” or not so politely demanded and yet that is okay? Aside from numerous other examples that I can offer, one of the old paradigms we need to get out of is the thought that if the work being done by someone is for the “greater good” then it should be free. Come on! These people still need to pay their bills just like you and I. And please do not even get me started on how much we pay our sports players and the value they provide to how much we pay our teachers and the value they provide.
Bottom line, I know Eckhart Tolle TV will be yet another channel of awakening for many out there. I wanted to introduce you all to this, for as evolving beings, we are awakening to the higher states of ourselves and we are the ones who will be shaping the new Earth to come. Gone will be the destructive ways to the self, others and the environment, gone will be the attachment to ego that has stifled humanity long enough. There will be Heaven on Earth for all and if you think this is wishful thinking, just sit by and watch what happens.
Hence if you are interested in accessing the seminars and lectures and other special features that Eckhart Tolle TV will be offering then definitely sign up. If you are already living out your life from a deep sense of consciousness and know how to continue to move yourself through your own personal evolution, then perhaps this membership is of no value to you. But no matter where you stand, at least go and check out the free videos that Eckhart offers, as his personal level of stillness and consciousness alone, is a motivating factor to see that there indeed is so much more to life than many of us could have ever imagined.

Evita,
This is so great. I went over and watched a couple of the videos. I participated in the Oprah series and recently purchased his book on CD so I could review it in the car.
Many of us run around each day, all day and every day and have no idea that 99% of all that we do is completely unconscious.
Well isn’t this the truth! I can say I’ve improved immensely with this but still have more growth in the area.
I also like your reminder that “Life is beautiful ane perfect no matter what you see happening out there.” Yeah!
Thanks for introducing Eckhart Tolle’s new offering. I have some of his audios and they are brilliant. I learned so much about my ego from him!
I am going to check out his new program. Personally, I also think it is not “wrong” to charge money for an offering like this. It will be like saying “spiritual people cannot be abundant”. If doctors who are healing people get paid a consultation fee, I don’t see why spiritual healers should not charge or ask for donations!
Hi Evita,
I’ll stop over and check out this new site – thanks!
And what really resonates with me is this idea of conscious living. If I think about where I’m at, where I’m really at – I’m sure there is so much I can improve upon. And this whole idea of freeing ourselves is hugely important to me. And the thing is, we’re the keeper of the key – we CAN free ourselves – we just have to be willing to unlock that door that’s holding us back.
Evita,
Very nice summation of Tolle’s work and introduction to his new outlet. Good to keep these things alive and out in the energy of the world.
I am reviewing a book about economic changes this week and the Author I would describe as the new visioner of how we can make an economy based on Real Wealth vs Phantom Wealth. But your statements about how so many are going through life NUMB is the very point the author is attempting to make – Phantom Wealth just seems so much the thing to do (Real Wealth is health, healthy children, education, community support, food, a living wage – values in action. Wall Street is Phantom Wealth – creating money from nothing)
@ TESS – Hi Tess, I am so glad you found this useful. I too love covering books on audio. In many ways we can go through them faster, over and over, and it makes for some enlightening car rides :)
It is also great to hear that you are noticing differences in your own life where conscious living is concerned. It has truly set me free to live this way, and I wish the same for all others out there!
@ EVELYN – Thanks for sharing Evelyn, I too credit Eckhart in fact for almost everything I have learned about the ego. Next to him Neale Donald Walsch talked a little in great context about it too.
And I love that you agree with the idea of money and abundance (hmm… based on your wonderful posts about those topics, I guess I am not surprised!) I think many of us still have it a little backwards in our society today when we hear that someone is a life coach or spiritual consultant or healer, etc and they charge money, many people are quick to label it as “scams” or something. And while there are many scams out there, we also have to understand that there are even more people out there offering genuine value and there is nothing wrong with rewarding them for that!
@ LANCE – Yes indeed Lance, we really can free ourselves. I love this topic of consciousness, because when I first started experimenting with it “consciously”, life began to change instantaneously. I was aware of the moments of my day, of my drives, of my conversations with others, etc. And all of a sudden, one really starts to see life in a new form. We began to really be responsible more than anything for what we say and do – at all times.
Am I conscious 100% of the time, no, but I would like to say, not yet. I thrive off of this and see no better way to live, so I have really made a point to live this way as much as possible, and the majority of my days today I have to tell you are lived out of conscious and deliberate thoughs, words and actions. I hope no one takes this or bragging or something, but I cannot deny my own truth, that I am happy and proud (for myself) of where I am. No one needs to compare themselves to me, or I to anyone else, for in the end, the journey is personal. And having said this, there is ALWAYS room for growth and I love that part so much!!!
So yes Lance, keep unlocking all that is within, for it is magnificent indeed!
@ PATRICIA – Thank you so much Patricia, I wholeheartedly agree about keeping these out in the energy of the world. Many things come to people out there from many places and avenues, so the more avenues that are planted with love and light, the easier it is for all of us to find our own personal truths and remember who we truly are.
The book you are talking about seems very interesting. I think it will be a gem to many these days as we are seeing this “phantom” wealth dissolving and very quickly in some instances too.
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing that!
Hi Evita,
Let me state, first off, that I am instantly skeptical of anything that Oprah gets behind, because I don’t think very highly of her. However, I’ve heard a lot about Eckhart Tolle, and I’m curious to hear what he has to say. I can definitely understand what he means when he says that too many people are living an unconscious life. It’s sad that people have accepted that they have to coast through life, but that’s not what I signed up when I came to this planet! I want to live a life on consciousness, so maybe I can see whether or not his work can benefit me or not. Thanks for pointing him out!
@ TREY – Hi Trey, I have come across many people who either love, hate or don’t have an opinion on Oprah. The only thing I always say, may we listen to the message, and not judge the messanger.
While I personally resonate with some of her topics and not others, I can only offer this to you: may your opinion of her, not get in the way of who and what Eckhart Tolle is all about (she was only affiliated with promoting him a short time). In terms of his material too, there are those who love him and those that hate him. But I will say again, may we give each messanger a chance and listen to the message instead of getting wrapped up in judging the messanger. His material will obviously resonate with some and not others, just like all other things on this planet. It really depends at what stage/level of evolution each one of us is along our life’s journey.
So I am thrilled to hear your enthusiasm about not coasting through life! A conscious life, is one where we are responsible for each of our joys and sorrows, or better yet – all of our experiences :)
Hi Evita,
Derek here from Ireland! I’ve only just come across your site. I know the last comments were 2009!! so… I am wondering (now it’s Nov 2011) how you are getting along? I have been immersed in Eckhart Tolle for many years now and having been captivated by this thinking for the past 20yrs, Eckhart was the one who made more sense to me than anyone else and indeed I grew immensely in awareness (and continue to grow) having read and listened to his teachings. I realise I’m on a journey but get frustrated because I don’t “feel” free! I observe all the unconsciousness around me and recognise I’m awakened but as Eckhart say’s once this process has started it cannot be reversed!! I know this, and this is where my frustration stems from, so near, yet… so far away! I feel a bit lost. Does this make sense?
Anyway…Hope all’s well in your world, Derek.
