I had the great pleasure recently, of having the chance to attend the screening of a new documentary called “The Path: Afterlife“.
In our quest as evolving beings to learn and grow, this movie is one that I was very excited to share with you, as it touches upon and expands our understanding of life, death and the afterlife.
Many people have various views of what happens to us after we die. Some are tied to religious views, while others to personal experiences. Some people believe that death is the final part of our existence, while others see death as nothing more than a door to walk through in our existence.
No matter what views or beliefs we hold, most of us will recognize however, that on a deeper level, we really have no idea what death and the afterlife hold for us. In fact most of the beliefs we have, are the beliefs of others, that only vaguely scratch the surface of the potential where this subject is concerned.
This is where “The Path: Afterlife” comes in. It is a concise, wise and simple exploration, rooted in love, that offers us an expanded awareness of the possibilities where death and the afterlife are concerned.
Background of the The Path: Afterlife
The Path: Afterlife is a documentary that was directed by Michael Habernig and produced by April Hannah. Both of them share a unique interest in matters that deal with the metaphysical and hence were moved to work together and produce movies, which would serve to raise the vibrational levels of the universe.
The Path: Afterlife, is the first of several films that they will be producing in this series, that each deal in a unique way with the purpose of the soul, our life, healing and other metaphysical topics.
The movie features 12 expert teachers, who all have a wealth of knowledge to contribute where matters of the soul, healing, life, death and the science behind these are concerned. Some of these include: nuclear physicist – Thomas Campbell, president of the Monroe Institute – Skip Atwater, and medical doctor – Robert Weissberg. See here the full list of the teachers and their specific areas of expertise.
The goal of the film is both to remove some of the stigma and fear associated with death, as well as explore and awaken people to expanded ideas about the soul, death, healing, spiritual realms and the afterlife. In doing so, it strives to answer the basic fundamental questions all of us have about life, death and the afterlife.
The film features a series of interviews from the experts, supportive footage, as well as some narration throughout.
Overview of the The Path: Afterlife
The movie can be seen as divided into 3 parts, that beneficially overlap each other. Part 1 deals with uncovering some of the questions we have where matters of life and death are concerned, as well as sharing some of the personal experiences and understandings of the experts as to what death is and what happens to us in the afterlife.
The second part of the film, goes into more of the science and facts associated with the afterlife, out of body experiences and other spiritual realms.
The last part of the film touches upon our beliefs about death and the afterlife. It examines where we get our beliefs, by doing an astounding comparison of religion versus spirituality. It then talks about some of the more difficult things to consider like traumatic deaths, suicides and the purpose souls play in each other’s lives.
The movie opens up with one of the experts, William Buhlman, explaining that “life is like a train ride”, except that most of us really have no idea where we are going in the end. Some of us have vague ideas, but deep within most of us really don’t know as to what happens when we die. Hence, there is so much fear and negativity associated with death. He thus leaves us with the question to begin our journey, as to “why are we accepting not knowing where we are going – why aren’t we seeking to find out?”
The teachers allow us into their personal experiences with how they see death, and for some, how they have come to personally know the death experience. The roles of the deaths of loved ones are also discussed.
A very intriguing idea that the teachers explain is why the state of your mind – what you know, and believe going into your death experience, makes the world of difference into what death will be like for you.
From a scientific perspective, the movie points to the fundamental area which explains why life after death is not only possible, but the only natural thing – that being consciousness. Consciousness, like energy (which many see as a type of energy) lives on and cannot be destroyed. It simply changes form.
The teachers explain how passing on from this reality, moves us to a much grander one, where this particular lifetime becomes but a simple dream. It is not that we lose all of our memories from here, we simply lose the useless day to day thought patterns that cloud our minds and keep the rich experiences that have shaped us and helped us grow.
As mentioned, the film does a phenomenal job of explaining the idea of soul contracts, process of suicidal deaths, and the comparison of religion and spirituality.
The film ends off explaining our grand purpose here in this or any lifetime and how to no longer travel on this path, not knowing, but find out for yourself what death and the afterlife are really all about.
“Find your own answers. This is where the path begins.”

Personal Review of The Path: Afterlife
Perhaps you have noticed that generally speaking, I love all the material I share with you, as I am selective in making sure the material I bring to you, be of good quality where our growth and learning is concerned. This one however, is of a particularly special importance as it deals with something all of us will have to experience at some point – death.
Upon watching this movie, I felt it was very well done. There were some nice graphics at the start, but generally speaking don’t expect fancy animations to keep you interested. This movie is solid, based on the information it presents.
The teachers were all very well chosen for the topics discussed, and the interviews flowed very well throughout the movie. In one sense of the word, I would describe the overall feeling of the movie, as one that makes you feel warm, comfortable and at home, especially that there is a good segment alloted for the teachers to share their own personal experiences. This makes one feel like they are sitting as part of a group talking together, instead of being talked at, or to.
Having said that though, don’t underestimate the value and worth of its message. This film takes us and allows us to explore an area of our life that most of us are either very uncomfortable to talk about or really don’t know how to approach.
The movie definitely provides a thought provoking, yet safe atmosphere for us to really explore the most common questions we have about life, death and the afterlife.
From a metaphysical perspective, it even covers out of body experiences, near death experiences, Reiki and energy healing, spirit guides and more!
It is also very wise, not just for the material it presents, but because it relays the message several times, that ultimately we have to find out the answers for ourselves. Nothing anyone says, nothing we read or hear is really going to hit home, until we move from believing something, to knowing something ourselves.
Is this a beneficial movie for those out there who are very comfortable and have a highly developed level of consciousness and spirituality? Perhaps not. They may find it a bit too elementary. But that is the movie’s strength. It is not geared for the minorities in the population, but at the majority of people who really are struggling in any way, with the ideas of life, death and spirituality.
My favorite part and the one that was most influential for me, was the discussion on soul contracts. I have heard about these before and am expanding my personal awareness of what this means to me at the moment, and so I found this part of the movie really hit home with me. I think it will for a lot of people out there as well, because for the most part we see, the deaths of a child especially, as some tragic and most unfair loss. But the case is so different, should we only allow ourselves to see the bigger picture.
As Neale Donald Walsch also said in his book “Home With God” – no death is ever an accident, waste or mistake. Every single one holds a sacred purpose.
And so I know that this movie will be an amazing ray of light for many people out there. Whether you are open to growing in the areas of spirituality or not, is not really the point. All you need is an open mind and a thirst for knowing what happens when we die and later in the afterlife.
Conclusion
Now here comes the extra exciting part! As I know this film will be very influential in many people’s lives, I purchased an extra copy of it, to give away here on EvolvingBeings.com to one random, winner, who has attracted this the most into their life.

Hi, I’m interested in this movie! I may know most of the things discussed, but I want to see how it’s explained — that may improve my service of Akashic Record Reading.
There are people who remember their past deaths or even the place we go in between physical incarnations. When I was 15 months old, I had the experience and I understood it is about going to another side of the world. We just don’t speak up often because most people don’t understand.
I checked the cast of the movie — just wondering why they didn’t include anyone in the past life regression therapy.
So here is my understanding of afterlife as Akashic Record Reader (in essence — obviously this is a huge topic that can make a post of its own): When we die, we (our soul) leave our physical body and go into the astrals. We “cross over” to the other side. There will be a special kind of spirit who would guide us for this. When we get to the other side, we review our immediate past life — what worked, what not, what we learned. Again, there are spirits who help us for this review. Then we can kick back and relax for a while. Eventually, we aspire to come back so we make plans. We pick our life lessons (based on the current learning level and I think the past life experiences influence us in choosing the life lessons). We pick our birth settings based on the life lesson we want to learn. We choose one spirit guide to come with.
Then we come down to this side of the world and start nurturing the baby. The soul actually gets inside the body at the baby’s first breath of life. So this is a critical moment.
Occasionally, things go a bit off the standard course. For instance, those who died traumatic death sometimes fail to cross over and just come back on their own after they stay in the astrals for a while. They didn’t pick their life lessons (which doesn’t mean they don’t learn anything in life, but their learning tend to be haphazard, without the clear sense of direction) and they didn’t come with the birth guide. This is something I take care of in my service.
And some don’t even make to the astrals and become earthbound. They need help to cross over.
The review process may raise some concern and fear to some people, but it’s not like a trial — the judgement. The spirits are very compassionate. It’s our fear of being judged that can cause problems.
Hope this helps some people :) Like I often say in my blog, death is a transformation process and nothing to be afraid of.
Love & Light,
Akemi
Evita,
What really moves me when watching the video is this thought: “let go of the body and what’s left is the real you” – about a minute into it. I kept going back to listen again. And as I think through that thought, what I’m really drawn to is our soul…within each one of us. That’s the “real you”, and the one that yearns to be discovered. By us. So – in death, we get there – to this space that is right and good for us. And that’s not death at all, really our true selves, always. Getting there, in our earthly days – a challenge because we have so many outside forces which keep us from that amazing discovery within. If we let them. And if that’s the case (I believe it is) – then in death, when we are brought naked, just our soul – the real us finally is let out. I think we can move toward that spot, as we evolve – although I’m not sure it’s a place we ever fully get to before death.
Just this week, as I was out in the quiet of the woods one morning, I could only think of myself on my deathbed. This was both difficult and freeing. I’m not sure if that makes sense, and I’ll try to explain. It was difficult in that I was saying goodbye to so many people that mattered deeply. Had I done everything I could? Had I been my own true person? Had I listened to my heart? And it was also freeing – it didn’t matter anymore what others thought – this was it – and what mattered was the people who cared. It’s hard now, as I think about it – emotionally hard. What makes a “right” life? And when could it end? Today? Next year? Forty years from now? And if I don’t really know, should I really be that concerned, today, of what others think – as I delve further into my own soul? The answer is easy, and it’s not.
So – life, death, life after death. I don’t know. I don’t know what’s beyond here. And it’s the ultimate change – from our earthly bodies to something else. I don’t know. And I come back to the thought above: “let go of the body and what’s left is the real you”. And I find much comfort in that…
Death to me, means the ultimate realm of Enlightenment and Spirituality. You enter into death and become fully and completely awakened and illuminated as you enter into the Afterlife. All of your questions and curiousities are immediately answered. Your life on Earth and your Worldly lessons are a contribution to further your and other’s Spiritual growth. All are teachers, and all are on equal ground in the Spiritual realm. All of the Spiritual body are One in the Afterlife, and all are enveloped in unconditional love, peace, and contentment. Entering into the Afterlife connects one to all, and to everything you’ve ever searched for while living in a human body on Earth. And, you understand that your discontentment while on Earth was stirred by ‘the searching’ which could have never been found on the Earthly realm.

This movie is like vibrational match to what certain people are thinking and feeling right now. Those who attract the film are emitting vibrations about the issues or this kind of film would not enter their energy field. To be here now, you are expanding awareness of belief systems, perceptions of social reality, and choose to learn from what everything teaches you.
Human consciousness and ignorance affect awareness. Every person has free will. You can shift internal indicators to what feels right and recall what is or ignore it. What matters is how you view what you are and what you are becoming. Love invites your undivided attention on the present. To choose to awaken to the illusion of time-space reality helps you see why much of humanity chooses to perpetuate fear and how you do not have to make this choice. You have free will. Every path brings you back to love.
Imagine a point of consciousness where everything is expanding energy. To recognize there is a point where everyone gets what they want, there is a never-ending unfolding. If you sense this mental place, the concepts of life and death lose significance as humans understand them. You sense they are limited views of transitions you may not completely grasp. To view the self as energy, you could make an analogy with water. It changes from solid to liquid and gas (among other formless and other states). If human body is a dense, solid, you begin to sense other possibilities and state transitions. A shift in consciousness is something Akemi explains very well regarding Akashic records.
When a person chooses to believe in life and death, that person creates a vibrational match for those conditioned beliefs. The experience you detect or register in your own limited observation, the dreams you nurture, reflect your energy vibration. You can also vibrate out of alignment of what is right in front of you and which additional realities exist. What you sense physically is what you choose. You can choose to create and experience different realities based on the degree to which you permit emotion to control you. Bottom line, you focus on love or fear. Everything is part of a soul journey.
One thing you learn is you cannot create experiences for people who are not a vibrationally in alignment of what they want. If someone wants to believe in angels and an afterlife, yet vibrates in a mindset of fear, then their experience and belief systems will perpetuate fear. As you learn to use mind power, you begin to notice what you believe is not necessarily the way things are. To sense the base vibration is love changes everything. Get into that self-reflect. Learn how thought form and experience extend from whetehr you focus on love or fear.

@ AKEMI – Thanks so much for entering and sharing your thoughts – they will be very valuable to many I am sure!
To answer your question about the cast, they had a group of several people who were instrumental in their own learning that they wanted to feature, is what I gathered when I was present at the Q & A session with them after the screening.
@ LANCE – Thank you for entering Lance and sharing your thoughts!
To raise something in what you said, based on various other teacher’s accounts and now thinking and integrating this myself, it appears that indeed we can get to that place of wholeness without actually dying.
This teaching that “we do not need to die in order to be fully realized” is one that I am coming across more and more. And I have to tell you, it really resonates with me. I think that is a type of self mastery to which we can evolve, if we should so choose.
That must have been an experience indeed thinking and reflecting like that on your own life and death. I think those moments are so beneficial. They may feel scary at first, but they help us break through barriers and peel off more layers to expose the deeper us. One thing I am also learning more and more, to the point that I am quite comfortable with it at the moment, is that death is definitely nothing to fear. It is us simply going back home after a trip, well that is my way of looking at it at least.
@ DORIS – Thank you so much for entering the contest Doris! Your thoughts and ideas about death and the afterlife are very deep indeed, and they offer a lot of value to others who are unsure of this whole process. Thank you.
@ LIARA – Thanks for entering and sharing your thoughts and views.
You really have touched upon some very deep and thought provoking topics Liara and I feel this is a great gift for us to grow as beings. We need to be pushed to consider the “other” possibilities. We can choose as you said whichever experience we want to manifest, and our thoughts and beliefs will indicate the kind of experience we have.
It is not that we lose all of our memories from here, we simply lose the useless day to day thought patterns that cloud our minds and keep the rich experiences that have shaped us and helped us grow.
I love this part but do I have to wait until death to do it? I want to get rid of those…all of those thought patterns today!
I don’t think I’m afraid of death as much as I am afraid of how and when I will die. I am a whimp and don’t want any pain…OK I’ll take an instant! And when…I love my family and friends so I don’t want to go to early and on the other hand I don’t want to suffer in a bed until the end like my parents. Louise Hay says we choose when we die and that sounds good to me.
On suicide I’ve read NDE’s that report those people don’t see the light and love at the end of life only the turmoil. I don’t believe that there after life is any worse than anyone elses. After all I thing those souls also come here to teach us or at least those around them how to be more compassionate and loving. Why would they be less, get less or have a different experience for doing their work?
I think our after life is the same as this life in the respect it’s all about love but then fear really won’t be a possibility ever!
My mom is 89 and her kidneys are failing I’ve asked her to send me a sign that I will clearly recognize that she’s alright. She agreed. So I’ll let you know how that goes.
So you see there’s nothing really deep here…it’s just conclusions from a former practicing Catholic.
@ TESS – Wonderful additions and insights. I really like what you said about not being afraid of death as much, as of the “how”. I know many, many people share that exact same thought.
But to me that already says a lot. If we can break through and move past the idea of the fear of death, then we too can break through and get past the fear of the how. It is as you said from Louise Hay, we can choose our death.
And I think this is a big part that a lot of people are not realizing yet, because we have always been lead to believe that death is in the hands of higher powers. But think about it, if we have free choice/will along the way, and if we get to the point that we realize we are creators and we create our reality, then why not create our death too?
I am sure you know people who say things like “oh well we gotta die of something” if health or healthy habits per say are mentioned. But see the belief they have. They believe they will be dying of something, i.e. disease. Well we know those are unpleasant for the most part, so why not create another reality?
I have seriously converted myself over to the belief that no, death is possible in whatever way one chooses, it is a beautiful process and we need not leave in pain or kicking and screaming. We can simply and gracefully exit the body, or simply allow the soul to move on. And I am with all my belief creating that. And it is not that I am fearing or resisting the disease. It is just that I know, I do not need it to go.
Anyhow, thank you for sharing about your mom – I hear people get back amazing messages from their loved ones, who agree to what you described.
So thanks for sharing all this – every thought Tess is deeply valuable when another expresses it :)
What a great question to answer in the comment section. Death to me means allowing my energy to be spread out back into the world. Our contained bodies have limitations. We can only see things from our perspectives.
I think death allows us to flow back with the stream. Each of us are individual raindrops trying to nourish the earth. We don’t always get it right, but that’s part of your evolution. When we land (death) we are soaked back into the earth to be funneled back into the stream of life.
Afterlife to me is nothing I can imagine. I know it’s there, but I hate to guess. I’m just looking forward to whatever comes and finding the best ways to enjoy it.
Evita, thanks again for bringing reader attention to this film and its rather delicate subjects. I am reccomending it and suggesting people visit your site. This dialogue invites people to step outside their comfort zone.
@ KARL – Thank you Karl and how wonderful of you to share your thoughts about this topic as well!
I love your emphasis on the limitations we have in the physical body right now and the analogies your used to nature. I think it gives death such a gentle and beautiful overview.
@ LIARA – It is always my pleasure to do so :) And that is wonderful to hear you are also introducing others to this film – thank you!
Death is definitely a topic that pushes us out of our comfort zones. For many people they know it is going to happen, but they would rather not talk or think about it, I think. Others just have this scary and even horrific view of it at times.
I think it is in these changing times that we will have a chance to see death as simply the passage between two worlds that it is. A sort of coming back home, to be even more fully realized.
Evita, so many thoughts came to mind, but I’ll touch on two: your mention of soul contracts and Tess’s mention of suicide.
When my father committed suicide, I felt that he simply was ready to “go Home.” It was years later, after seeing all the changes in my family, that I came to believe his life and passing were part of a soul contract with my mother and, to a lesser degree, perhaps with us, his children. I’ve seen so many lessons the rest of us have experienced simply because of his passing! Since his death in this life, he has come to my mother, two of my cousins (through energy workers), and to me. In fact, I’ve come to understand that he is now one of Them, those who are always with me from the other side. In fact, a few months ago I sat for an automatic writing session (I’d never done that before), and immediately was caught in a conversation with my father that was so instructive, so healing, so REAL that it brought me to tears of gladness and gratitude.
There are times when the presence of another is so strong I can almost feel it, physically, tangibly. It’s much like when you close your eyes and as you make your way through a room, you can sense when you are nearing the wall; the air becomes denser. Feeling the presence of another from the unseen world is as real an experience as seeing the table at which I’m sitting right now. Accessing that other-worldly experience simply requires an opening and a shift in perception. With practice, it becomes natural, I’m sure.
I’ve come to believe that there is no death; there is simply a different form (or not) the Soul takes, that life is everywhere, in many forms, and that communication exists on a multitude of levels. To be fearful of losing one form of life prevents us from seeing so much more.
Well, as usual, I ended up saying more than I planned. I’m not at all fearful of passing on; the only hesitation I have is in leaving my husband, who doesn’t think at all as I do; I don’t want him to suffer without me! To that end, I tell him I want us to pass through together, swiftly, with fireworks and shooting stars to mark the occasion. :)
Hi Evita,
Death has totally changed its meaning to me in the last few months so good timing on asking. ;-) I have been delving into Michael Newton’s work and wow has it opened me up to a new way of looking at life. He has hypnotized MANY people and regressed them to the point where they die in one life and until they reincarnate in the next.. I think his work might actually be my next post….still wrapping my head around it. ;-) After studying Jill Bolte Taylor and many people that have died and come back I felt there was MUCH more than we are told and death is no where near the END. I had my Akashic Records Read by Akemi so knew there was more but always seemed to have more questions than answers.
I believe death is just an ending of this chapter and that we have many…. I feel we do return to a place that is beautiful to assess the last journey with our soul group and guides and that we choose carefully our next life to be lived and lessons to learn. Thank you Evita – I had not heard of this movie but wow does it feel life a perfect edition to everything I have been studying over the last few months! I feel so blessed you are doing this work full time now and introduce us all to LOTS of amazing stuff! I will DEFINITELY check this out. :-)
Much Love, xo
Jenny
@ JULIE – Oh Julie, all your words are so valuable, so thank you for saying all that you have.
You definitely had “some” experience where the death of loved ones is concerned and I am sure you found that to be the greatest “teacher” one can get. So thank you for sharing your thoughts about how you see this “event” and what it means to you.
@ JENNY – Thank you for entering the contest Jenny and for sharing your thoughts here.
My definition of death has greatly changed too over the last couple of years. And I love it! I feel so much more free now :) Not afraid and actually excited about the whole process almost, as it is so different from what I have always been lead to believe.
I have not heard of Michael Newton, but his work sounds a little like that of Brain Weiss, he does the same with the regression. Anyhow thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experiences :)
This contest is now closed!
Thank you to all who entered. Winners will be announced on Thursday September 17,2009
Please feel free of course, to continue to leave your comments with your thoughts and feedback, about this movie, death, the afterlife or similar topics as you see fit.

My husband and I lost our beautiful son Last July to epilepsy. Our life has been so empty and lost without him. I just need a real confirmation that there really is more then our life on earth…..The pain of losing a child is one that is of profound soundness so undescribable. I would just like evidence or some real affirmation as I have this need to know.
Thank You,
M
Hello M
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure one cannot imagine losing a child unless it happens to them.
For me, there is indeed a great continuation of life, and a bigger purpose for every single death and disease. Being in physical form, and having attached ourselves to a certain way of life, it is difficult to see sometimes how every life, no matter how short or long is a gift.
I highly recommend the book by Neale Donald Walsch “Home With God: In a Life that Never Ends” – I did a review of it on this site as well. It really opened my eyes as to why every single death has its own perfect timing. Not one is an accident. I also don’t believe as my intuition has opened to understand, that we are ever victims of our death or any death. I truly believe each and every one of us comes here for a specific time and purpose, and goes when our work is done. This does not make it always easy for those of us who remain on the Earth, as we can still miss that person greatly, but please know that every single being takes part in planning exactly how this lifetime will go.
I truly believe that if you continue to seek that affirmation, go within, meditate, seek moments of greater understanding, you will get exactly what you are asking for.
We are all united here on Earth in the physical, and in the spiritual realm as well. To find solace in your little’s boys life, I invite you to focus on all the beauty that he brought into your life, all the lessons he came to teach and that he is still very much alive – simply not perceivable at this time for most of us in the physical form.
I hope that perhaps some of these words help you in some way. There are many more fantastic resources on death and the afterlife that shed great hope and understanding for all us here as to what the greater purpose of it all is and how life truly does continue.
Interesting concept to present the ideas with nice theme.
