I have recently had the opportunity to experience and learn a lot about an amazing tool that is available to us all, where spiritual health and growth is concerned - the Akashic Records.

If you are not familiar with Akashic Records, in short they are the records of our souls. The past and present records of anything our souls have been through, are going through, life lessons, paths, purpose, etc.

I was fortunate to be introduced fully to the Akashic Records thanks to Akashic Record Reader Akemi Gaines. If you missed my interview with her, where you can learn more about the Akashic Records and how a reading works, you can find it here.

After learning more about them, I decided to get a personal reading done with Akemi, and hence in this post I wanted to share my experiences with you on how such a reading works, what you can expect and highlight some of the things I learned and discovered thanks to this enlightening process.

The Akashic Record Reading

I realize many of us are still very unsure of what exactly an Akashic Record Reading is. Hence to dispel some myths and false expectations, let me begin by saying that such a reading has really nothing to do with what some of us are familiar with that we call an “intuitive” or “psychic” reading.

This is a reading that looks at the deeper aspects of you, not the surface aspects. It is not about what job should you take, or will you meet the right partner, etc. It is about getting in tune with you.

On a soul level, who are you? What is the purpose of this lifetime, or a particular life lesson you are wanting or needing to learn now? What past influences are standing in your way today? And many, many more similar concepts.

Hence, your Akashic Record is just that – yours, and so it is also consistent, at least in terms of the past. That means that no matter which Akashic Record Reader you go to, it should generally speaking be the same. This again differs somewhat from so called “psychic readings” as they may tap into different aspects of your energies and areas of interest, and so will generally vary from reader to reader.

From a present perspective, you may also view the Akashic Record Reading like a spiritual check-up. We take care of our physical bodies, and go for physical check-ups, but how about the spiritual aspect of ourselves? Well that is where such a reading comes into play.

Now some people may say or think “why do I need someone else to tell me about me?” I hope that most of us realize though, that in fact living the way we do today, almost all of us live life detached from our higher selves. Really. While we know what our favorite food or color may be, most of us are not aware of who we really are or the purpose of this lifetime for us, never mind any baggage that may be hanging around from a previous lifetime. Similarly, many of us need a doctor to clue us into what is happening with us physically.

Of course some of us are really able to live in tune with our higher selves and have a great grasp and understanding of the bigger picture of our lives. But the truth is most of us, at least at this time, unfortunately don’t.

Also, we cannot misunderstand something very important here. It is not that the Akashic Record reader is telling you exactly who you are and what you are meant to do. They are simply opening up the channels and allowing you to get in touch with your higher self, and letting the information come through them. In reality all of us can connect to our higher selves and even read or access our own Akashic Records. But also by the same token, most of us cannot even sit still and mediate for 5 minutes, never mind still our minds enough to connect to our higher selves. That is why it is fantastic to have a facilitator, or as I like to say a channel who can help us out with this.

Thus to sum up this idea, even though I like to think that I am pretty in tune with my higher self at this point in my life, it was still an amazing gift to have Akemi share her talent. That being, of having the ability to pick up on the finer and more sensitive vibrations of our Universe and tap into the Akashic Records.

The Akashic Record Reading Format

The reading with Akemi itself lasts about 50 minutes, plus or minus, depending on your reading and how much information there is to relay to you that is of significance to your life right now. She will before this have prepared the reading for you, based on some basic information that you offer her, mainly name, place and date of birth.

To begin, the reading covers the history of your soul. For example were there any soul shifts, were there any possessions, was there an ascension, etc?

Next, the reading includes the destination of your soul. This doesn’t mean exactly where it is going, but more so where it originated from. Now again here, not to misunderstand, yes we all originated from the higher source, or God, but this means more the origin of our soul family so to speak. By the way, when you find out, Akemi has detailed articles on her site that explain each one in detail, so you have the chance to learn so much more beyond the reading about yourself.

Following that, comes a deeper understanding of your personal life. Mainly why are things where they are, what are our soul gifts, what areas would suit us best to focus on, etc. This may be followed also by information about our soul specialization.

Next, comes the biggie – life lessons. This is an area that allows us to understand what life lessons we have worked on and accomplished, are working on or even if we have finished the major lessons of this human life in this physical form.

There is also a section on knowing some information about the guidance that is with us, i.e. our spirit guides, how many, what kind, etc.

Finally there is a section on past lives, addressing any issues lingering on in this lifetime that may be preventing our further evolution and/or any clearing that may be required from these past lives. Note however, that not all people will have a past life or lives attached to their current soul and so there may be nothing in the reading about that.

Now having given you the above format, please note that this is a general outline of what to expect. As each of us is highly unique, readings will vary from person to person. Some people will need more information in a particular area, as is pertinent and some may get none in an area, as it does not apply to them.

In the end, the person may be sent away with some “homework” to do, if there is a greater need for a clearing of some kind, etc. Or there may be nothing more needed to be done.

All in all, Akemi has an option to pay just a little bit extra to get a written copy of the reading. I highly recommend that, as it gives one a personal record to refer to, from time to time, and progress through one’s evolution based on what they learned, want to follow up with, etc.

Personal Experience With The Akashic Record Reading

From a personal point of view, I have to tell you it was so awesome to get this reading done! It is not per say that I “needed” or “wanted” or was “lacking” something and needed to find out. It was just that I love the process of self-discovery. I love learning more about myself and opening up more and more of the big picture of why I am here right now in this lifetime, what if any lessons I should focus on, and so much more.

The reading in one word was fascinating! And I have to tell you, when a person gets theirs done, they should definitely give it a couple of days or so to let everything sink in, before forming opinions about it. It can be quite overwhelming at first. This is why I recommend the written record, as Akemi also includes useful links to articles on her site that will help you understand it and more about what she told you, about you, better.

During the reading, there is honestly so much information to process, hence do not be quick to jump to any conclusions. Some things will surprise you, even shock you and some you will find completely expected, as you already tapped into that area of yourself.

The biggest recommendation I have, is that during the reading do not dismiss anything. Walk in open-minded and stay open-minded. Even if there is something that may not resonate with you initially or seem really “out there”, just stay open minded. This is important for two reasons.

First, when someone tells us something we are not expecting, especially about ourselves, our initial reaction is to dismiss it or disbelieve it. This usually has something to do with our egos.

Secondly, you may hear something that you cannot possibly fathom at that moment in your life, but actually have to grow into, or evolve into at another point in your life. Hence, stay open-minded. Realize that you may not understand it today or it may not resonate with you today, but may very much in the future.

Having said this, are the readings 100% accurate? Not necessarily. Even as Akemi said in the interview I did with her, while she is very good at what she does, even the best of doctors sometimes make errors in diagnosing their patients.

Ultimately, as open-minded as you should stay, in the end you really have to go within and feel the information resonate with you. If there is something that is just too off for you at the moment, leave it aside. It doesn’t mean it isn’t true, but there is also no point of trying to make it fit at the moment. One day it may make sense, or it may not.

As for me, I found about 99% of the reading to be right on. Not only did it resonate with me, but it validated many strong feelings and ideas that I already had about myself. So how about that one other percent? Well, that is the stuff that I stay open-minded about, but at the same time, know that there is no need to split any hairs over it. So in the end, take what feels right to you.

So do I have any juicy and jaw-dropping stories to tell you about my past lives? No. Akemi helped me understand that the soul I have now is clear from any and all past lives and energies. This was actually great news to hear, but not that surprising. In fact, she informed me that I have gone through a soul ascension and am now working more to help others, rather than focus on my own life lessons. Given the huge changes I have been through in the past 4 years, this also was a validation of my current state.

My favorite information in terms of the one that really made my soul leap with joy was when Akemi said:

“From here on, your purpose is simply to be you, the authentic you, and express your soul gifts, which is at the same time a service to others.”

I have felt that so much and to have it validated like that brought tears to my eyes!!! For a very long time, I have felt that this lifetime for me is not about clearing anything from the past, not about life-lessons, and definitely not about drama. If there is one thing I learned in some previous lifetime, is that life need not be about struggles and problems. Sure those help us learn life lessons, especially the really hard lessons, but there comes a point where we don’t need them to evolve anymore.

This is why I feel so at peace today, and feel that I can dedicate my efforts to helping others awaken, evolve or just understand this so called life and reality a little better. And it is not that I have nothing left to learn. We are always, ALWAYS learning and evolving, but it is about how we choose go about it. We can take the hard way, or we can get to a point where we take an easier path. Neither is better or worse, but one definitely appears more painful.

I also had a chance to learn more about my spirit guides and cannot tell you how much more motivated I am to increase my connection with them and get to know them more intimately. I also learned so much about ideas like soul shifts and soul origins, all of which Akemi talks about in detail on her site Real Life Spirituality.

Bottom line, having the Akashic Record Reading with Akemi was a really valuable experience, where my further personal growth is concerned. I cannot stop emphasizing the word “fascinating” because really that is how I felt and feel to this moment. No matter how connected we may be with ourselves, it is still really fascinating to find out these things about ourselves. It can be a great source of empowerment, enlightenment or used to close old doors and open up new ones in our lives.
