Evolving Being In Action: Akemi Gaines

Akemi GainesIt is that time again – time to introduce you to another highly inspirational evolving being, that is this month’s Evolving Being in Action.

This month’s featured story comes to us from Akemi Gaines of Real Life Spirituality.

I have known Akemi and her work probably over a year ago now. In that time, I have learned that she is on a path of self-discovery, growth and evolution that made her an inspirational being from which others can learn.

I already knew that Akemi was a great writer and had a wide assortment of very valuable material for today’s changing times on her site. However, most recently, I also got to know more about her gift of being an Akashic Record Reader when I got Akemi to read my Akashic Record. I was very fascinated to learn more about the Akashic records, so I also interviewed Akemi and today am thrilled to learn even more about her and her journey, which I also share with you all here.

Akemi currently lives in Eugene, Oregon. She can be found either writing on her site Real Life Spirituality, doing various readings for clients, or just enjoying life and “being” in many diverse ways.

She is certainly an “evolving being in action” and it is thus my pleasure to let Akemi now share with us her evolving story:

What area(s) of your spiritual/emotional life have you decided to change and why?

You know, I don’t really think there was a point of decision to change in my life. It all evolved naturally. My first memory as a 15 month old was about the understanding of life and death. And even though my upbringing was nothing spiritual (or, frankly, discouraging spirituality and religion of any kind), I always secretly knew there was a big meaning about life and an invisible power (or energy) working around us.

Having said this, I guess something clicked big time when I bought the The Secret Soundtrack audio CD in July 2007. I was in Tennessee back then, spending a lot of time driving to work on weekdays and to town on weekends. So I thought I might listen to an audio book while driving, and just casually picked up The Secret. I loved it! It made perfect sense and I was fascinated with the Law of Attraction.

Soon I resumed meditation on a daily basis. I learned meditation in my early 20′s when I was studying Chinese traditional medicine and Do-in (ancient form of Qigong), but over the years I lapsed in my practice. One month into meditation, I repeatedly heard “Portland, Oregon” in my mind ear during the sessions. I had never even visited the West Coast before. But I trusted my intuition, quit my corporate job and moved myself across the continent by October.

Since then, it’s been a fast roll of manifestations! I feel my awareness is growing so much, and it keeps leading me. I do most things intuitively rather than by thinking these days, and emotionally I’m in a quiet bliss most of the time. Even my physical body is changing along with this — I eat mostly raw vegan and I have dropped caffeine and sugar consumption. And I have a successful business called Akashic Record Reading, helping others develop their spirituality.

What strategies have you implemented to change, who inspired you, person or organization, book, etc.?

As I mentioned, The Secret and other books about the Law of Attraction, such as:

initiated the changes I’ve been through in the last few years. Prior to that, I have always loved Taoism. I also have working knowledge of Buddhism and Christianity.

But I don’t think I’m particularly well read. There are a lot of books I heard are wonderful and I haven’t had the time to read.

I think the best source of my spiritual growth, personal development and life changes is my inner voice. If we listen, our Higher Selves and spirit guides give us the best advice in any situation.

So the only strategy I have is trust, or faith. The way I see it is, God gave me the chance to be born and be alive, so God can certainly take away anything including my life any time — I don’t really own anything, everything is just given, or leased, to me. Knowing this, I might as well trust the divine messages. Not that I think God would punish us if we don’t take its leads — God is all about love — but I just don’t see it practical or productive to resist them.

How have the changes benefited your overall life, happiness up to this point?

Hmm, I don’t think back so often, so maybe this is a good time to do so. I certainly wasn’t the person I am now. I had mood swings and I sought out happiness outside of me, such as in marriage or a nice job. I also sought out reliable power and knowledge sources outside of me. I worried about what people may think of me. I was overworked and no matter how much work I did, it wasn’t enough.

Life is simple and easy now. My work is integrated in my life and it stems out from my interest and love. I feel well rested both physically and internally. It’s actually better than “happiness”. When we use the word happy, I think we usually mean the excited blissful state. What I find myself in these days is something more stable and quiet. It’s like forgetting what happiness was or was not.

What are the next steps or goals in your life as an evolving being?

I’m interested in becoming a lightbody as I ascend. With this intention, more and more information is coming my way. I think it is about complete integration of body and soul, the physical and the spiritual.

This is why I’m interested in physical well-being as much as spiritual development these days. I don’t see them as two separate issues. For instance, I quit caffeine a few months ago — coffee, tea, chocolate (I never had sodas anyway). I had horrible headache for several days, but once I was clean, I never went back. As of this writing, I’m also dropping sugar and other sweeteners. Let’s see if this improves my intuition.

I love writing, so I’m writing an e-book titled “Lightworker’s Guide To Self-Employment.” It will be shared free at my blog Real Life Spirituality, and I hope to complete it before the holidays. After that, I plan to write a book on how to read one’s own Akashic Records and use the knowledge as the ultimate personal development tool. For this, I want a book deal and I envision to sell it on Amazon.

What message do you have for others who are struggling or embarking on a similar journey?

Each of us are on our own path of evolution. There are many roads to get to the same place, say enlightenment, so don’t worry if your path is the “right” one or not — if you are called to that path, it is right for you. There is also no point in comparing your progress with others.

Learn to listen to your intuition and act on your intuition. I facilitate a coaching program for intuition development, so I have tons to say about this topic, but it boils down to this: Listen, trust, and act. Don’t compartmentalize your intuition or spirituality – live it every day.

    Hi Evita,
It’s great to read about Akemi here today, and learn more about her and her journey.

    Hi Akemi,
I love the message you leave for others – that we’re all on different paths, and there’s no need to compare ourselves to others. So true, and also so good to be reminded of. Each of us are on our very own, very personal journey – and that is different from anyone else. And listening to our hearts (our intuition, really) is us on the “right” path for us – no matter what that path is…

  2. Hi Evita,
I enjoyed answering these questions a lot. It’s good to review our journey from time to time. Thank you.

    Lance,
Good to see you here, and glad you enjoyed it.
I can’t emphasize the importance of our uniqueness. Somehow, people are conditioned to aim at some common path. . . maybe it’s our school system where we get evaluated by the linear point system. But life is not like that at all.

  3. Evita says:

@ LANCE – Thanks Lance for stopping by to share in Akemi’s journey. I was really intrigued by it as well and know that many people will resonate with Akemi’s evolving being.

@ AKEMI – Hi Akemi – I would like to say a special thank you to you again for contributing your time to share your story with us all here.

What really resonated with me, is well so much that is part of your journey, but especially when you say that you live today in a “quiet bliss” – that it is really beyond happiness. I still express myself as being “happy” – but indeed on a day to day basis feel that I am living this serene balance, where things are no longer judged by “good” or “bad” – or “happy” or “sad”. I also resonate with the ideas of treating the “physical” and “spiritual” body well – and how beautifully you put that you really don’t see a difference between the two. Indeed, I too feel that both should be nourished with as much love and pureness as we can give them – ourselves that is.

And your advice as to be unique and on one’s own journey is precious. Yes, to be truly unique and pursue our path regardless of where others seem to be is important – we should not live with comparison, but look within to see only where we are at any given time.

So thank you again and I know you will have huge success and bring lots of value to others with the two books you are writing :)

Hi, Akemi. Two of your messages really stood out for me: trust and happiness.

So often, we’re advised to just trust and then let go, but it’s not something that most can easily do. The way you listened to your inner voice and then just faithfully trusted just proves, yet again, how we ARE always safe—if we allow ourselves to be.

You said “When we use the word happy, I think we usually mean the excited blissful state. What I find myself in these days is something more stable and quiet. It’s like forgetting what happiness was or was not.” I can’t think of a better way to describe it! The peaceful feeling that lives so deep within is such an uplifting one that we feel fully supported—even buoyant—no matter what else is happening. That is happiness. The excited blissful state is a double-dose of it, and when we’re practically jumping out of our skins from it, well that is joy. :)

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Akemi!

  5. I like how Akemi described happiness as an excited blissful state. I like that definition. Although, I never really thought of happiness as a excited state. To me it means inner calm. Where everything just feels interesting. There is no good or bad. There is just relaxed curiosity.

  6. “emotionally I’m in a quiet bliss most of the time” This is very powerful. I’m not there yet.

However about that meditating and taking it back up. My husband and I began meditating together after he lost his job over 5 months ago. He was all set to purchase a new business and we had been asking for guidance each time we meditated. We were almost down to the wire when we caught the seller being dishonest. We decided not to make the purchase. I believe we saw it because of our emotional state and the courage to ask for guidance and follow it.

Trusting business people isn’t easy today but when you’re in a peaceful state you can see right through the deceit where anyone else might look right past it.

Oh and one more thing…having a memory of understanding life and death when you were 15 months old blows my mind! Great interview.

  7. What a fantastic interview; thank you for bringing Akemi our way! When I read this paragraph, it stopped me (and I plan to email it to someone I love): “Life is simple and easy now. My work is integrated in my life and it stems out from my interest and love. I feel well rested both physically and internally. It’s actually better than “happiness”. When we use the word happy, I think we usually mean the excited blissful state. What I find myself in these days is something more stable and quiet. It’s like forgetting what happiness was or was not.”
That’s my ideal. I have touched on moments like that, but find the pendulum doesn’t stay quietly rested in the center for long. Your whole interview was so serene, centered and lovely… You embody the “all.”
I’m honored to have learned more about you.
    Thank you, Akemi!
    Thank you, Evita!

  8. I love how she kept hearing Portland Oregon and then just went with it. That is fantastic!

Like Akemi, I too am trying to live by intuition rather than thinking. I find when I live that way I live with more ease and less effort. It’s comforting. it’s also challenging, given the fast paced “should” society we live in.

An inspiring interview – thank you for sharing.

  9. Hi everyone,
    I love reading your comments!

    Julie,
Happiness, joy, peace, whatever we call it, it feels good, doesn’t it?

    Karl,
. . . and yep, it’s about going beyond the illusion of duality.

    Tess,
Good deal about trusting your intuition and having the courage to pull back. I think, looking back, the only decisions that caused troubles later were the ones I made by ignoring my inner voice. When I follow my intuition, even big changes like cross-continent relocation works out well.

    Megan,
Well, if you ever get the feeling of being there, then you can always get back there. You are doing well :)

    Stacey,
Intuition is so helpful. Just ignore the “shoulds” ;)

Hope to see you on my blog Yes to Me as well!

  10. Reginald says:

    Hi evita,
A very interesting lady. I can identify with her moving on intuition and trusting it. I can also identify with how the secret bought an awakening of things that were already there. It confirmed things that I already knew. I am fascinated by the akashic records. I recently started reading them for myself. Everyone should learn how. Great article.

  11. Evita says:

@ JULIE, @ KARL, @ TESS, @ MEGAN, @ STACEY – Thank you so much for stopping by to share in and read Akemi’s story!

It is truly a pleasure to feature the amazing diversity and uniqueness of each of our paths :)

@ REGINALD – Thanks so much for sharing your comment here Reginald. It is wonderful when we can resonate with someone or something that invokes within us a deeper sense of being or confirms for us something that our higher being was telling us all along.

Akemi does encourage everyone to learn how to read their own Akashic record too. I am fascinated by it and would love to know myself…perhaps soon I will devote some serious time to connecting with that space. Great to hear that you have had experience with this yourself too.

  12. Hi Reginald and Evita,
Akashic Records are fun. Just knowing one’s starseed group is so helpful. When we read Akashic Records, it’s important to remember WHY we are doing this, I think. Are we just curious? Or are we seeking info to improve our current life?

  13. Hanlie says:

I’ve come to “know” Akemi from her comments on Evolving Wellness and am very happy to learn more about her!

  14. Hi Hanlie,
I’ve noticed you, too, and I’ve seen you at earthmother’s blog, too.
    Smiles,

  15. Evita says:

@ HANLIE – Thanks so much for stopping by Hanlie and reading Akemi’s story! She has a lot to offer from both the physical and spiritual perspectives for sure!

  16. Andrew says:

This was interesting. I know Akemi’s blog from a while back, and I’ve always thought she is an amazing person.

  17. Evita says:

@ ANDREW – Thank you Andrew for coming by and sharing in Akemi’s story. What a beautiful compliment to add as well – she definitely is one very special soul!
