Do Not Be Afraid to Dream

lanwater.jpgNo matter what your age, when you reflect upon your life, what do you see?

Are you satisfied with where you are or are you trying to get to a place you think will make you happy?

Some people never reflect upon or ask those questions of themsleves as they are afraid of the answers. But if one is to live a happy and fulfilled existance on this planet, one must be able to face their own created realities.

And so through this article I want to give you a short inspirational piece for attaining the life you want. This does not necessarily deal with the physical or material items that you think will fulfil your life, but inner peace, stillness and joy.

One of the most powerful tools that one needs to attain and live the life of their dreams – is just that – dreams.

Pessimists sqaush the ideas of dreams through negative thinking and thus never allow themsleves to dream.  Realists dismiss these dreams as unrealistic and thus never feel the serenity that comes from a dream.  All the while, optimists generally live out their life through their dreams and one by one make each a reality.

And so my advice to you is do not be afraid to dream!

The world will have you believe that it is useless or a waste of time – well dream anyway!

People may percieve you as naive and inexperienced – dream anyway!

Challenges may try to get in your way – but dream anyway!

See the best part of dreaming is that it is free, it is always possible and anyone, anywhere, no matter what their situation is, can do it.

And there is no such thing as an unrealistic dream, a wise person once said “If you can think it, you can achieve it“.  A dream is a thought. A thought is energy. Energy cannot be destroyed, but it can be transformed. And hence the dreams of dreamers become their life realitites.

I also like the analogy of a dream as a painting. You start with the idea of what you want to paint, you think about it, you visualize it and then you put it into action. And before you know it your painting has come to life. Your dream is now your reality.

I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream.

Vincent Van Gogh

And if you still need convincing of why you should dream, think back to when you were a child, remember that feeling of dreaming about something? It is one of the most magical and uplifting feelings when we dream about scenarios, outcomes, things, places, etc. Unfortunately as we grow up most of us enter the “desolate” adult stage where dreaming is often frowned upon as again being “unrealistic”. But think to yourself, is it serving us? How do the adult people around you seem, all happy and satisifed? I didn’t think so.

So do not be afraid to dream, as it not only puts one in a beautfiul state, but with enough thought, intention and belief… you will watch your own dreams become realities to live out the life of your dreams!

As human beings rediscover they are eternally happy with what comprises their authentic self, then all mental blocks dissolve and fall away.

@ DAVID – My pleasure David, it is a beautiful way to exist, as long as we are open and loving to our dreams :)

Evita, you must be related to me :) — I just came across this post (title caught my eye) and I ditto your every word. Dreaming has been immensely useful when I needed to get past a tough spot. It lightens my mood, distracts me beautifully from what’s “less-than-wonderful” and points me in the right direction. Daydreaming is one of my favorite things to do, even more than eating ice cream!

@ JEANNE – LOL, that is a really nice comment to hear Jeanne :)

And yes I agree, daydreaming is fun! And it makes us feel so good. Some people think “this is not realistic”, etc. But we make our own reality, so why not dream anything we love and bring to ourselves the most amazing feelings of joy, happiness and fun!

Such a lovely and inspiring post! I’m graduating college this March, and have been doing a lot of dreaming lately about what I want to do next. Roadtrip the US? Move to Portland? Volunteer abroad? Dreaming about my future has allowed me the luxury of being excited for my next step rather then afraid, and I can’t wait to see where I land. Thank you for the encouragement!

    Cheers,
    Margo
