February is upon us and it is my pleasure to announce to you this month’s featured “Evolving Being in Action“.
This month our submission comes from Megan Bord – also known as “the Joy Girl!”
I first got to know Megan through her site, It’s All About Joy last year.
What you will read in Megan’s story will no doubt leave you inspired, but above anything else, it will show you the kind of gentle, warm hearted person that she is. It is a great pleasure today, to also be able to call her my friend.
Her story demonstrates the deeper meaning of synchronicity and exemplifies the magnificence and potential we have as creators of our own lives. Megan is a seeker, and her spiritual journey thus far has made her an amazing role model to learn from and learn with. I love and share in her desire to walk your own path, and the peace and understanding that she seems to approach all in her life with.
It is also exciting to share that Megan is currently writing her first book and will no doubt be reaching and inspiring even greater audiences to come.
Thus I welcome you now to read Megan’s story and expand your own consciousness of yourself as you share in her journey:
What area(s) of your spiritual/emotional life have you decided to change and why?
I had a defining moment at age 25 that shook me out of my (dis)comfort zone and forced me to take my life in a different direction. At the time, it really was a crossroads I stood at and my choices were: remain tethered to a traditional world where all that exists is what we can see, hear, taste and touch — OR — explore the unseen forces in life from a more spiritual perspective? I chose the latter.
Prior to age 25, I used to think I was a victim of circumstance, but I very quickly learned that I had been in the driver’s seat all along. What started out as a simple exercise in positive thinking led me to the very magical place I’m at now: someone who can alter the landscape of her life just by thinking things into reality.
It might sound elementary, but I swear there are days when I have a thought and two hours later, that thought has materialized!

What strategies have you implemented to change, who inspired you, person or organization, book, etc.?
Reading self-help and spiritual books has always represented the crux of my learning. In my late 20’s, though, I serendipitously crossed paths with a spiritual teacher who wanted to teach me for free. He introduced me to a variety of world religions, as well as various manifestation techniques, psychic exercises (to develop my latent clairvoyant gift), and other divination methodologies.
When I turned 30, though, I felt like I’d outgrown him, so I manifested a new teacher. I had just finished watching “The Secret” and was enamored with Rev. Michael Beckwith. I wrote to his church and asked if he would consider taking on a student. I never heard back. In the meantime, though, the seed I planted for a new teacher sprouted in a totally surprising way and connected me with a guy named Steve, who would turn out to be the best teacher I’ve ever had.
Steve continues to teach me that we manifest absolutely everyone and everything in life to teach us more about ourselves. EVERYONE. EVERYTHING. Every time. No exceptions! Taken a step further, he taught me that every interaction we have is US interacting with ourselves. So when I’m talking to Joe Smith at Starbucks, everything Joe says to me is really ME talking to ME.
When I examine my life and everyone in it from this perspective, I’m blown away by what I learn. In some cases, I allow myself to dive a hundred layers more deeply into who I really am and what I’m here to accomplish.

How have the changes benefited your overall life, happiness up to this point?
When I look back at my life prior to age 25, I was angry, pessimistic, living paycheck to paycheck, in and out of unhealthy relationships, getting sick all the time, and generally despising everything. I was fearful and future-focused, hoping somehow that my future would be brighter than whatever moment I was in.
Today at age 34 (or 27 if you ask my gullible and adorable niece!), I’m optimistic, joyful, have money in the bank (even after taking a year off from work), am only involved in healthy relationships, am surrounded by happy people, and love my life for all of its glorious moments. I don’t worry about the future because I trust that every moment unfolds perfectly. I truly feel content simply to be alive.
*Photo Caption: There’s nothing I love more than laughing!
What are the next steps or goals in your life as an evolving being?
I want to keep exploring what it means to be me, and continue giving and receiving as much love, joy and inspiration as possible. 2009 was all about learning how to open my heart more, and expand my mind. It felt very good, and frankly I’d like more of that!
What message do you have for others who are struggling or embarking on a similar journey?
Some of the best advice I ever received was:
1. It’s none of your business what other people think of you. (In other words, we need to be who we were born to be. So shine on, young grasshopper!)
2. The heart is infinitely wiser than the mind. Therefore, as often as possible, listen to and follow whatever your heart has to say.
3. Everything is possible, and everything you’re seeking is also seeking you. If you can dream it, you can have it.
4. Intend that you will always have the resources and guidance needed to follow your way. (And so it shall be!)

Megan,
How wonderful to see you highlighted here today!
As I read through this today, I’m drawn in to this belief that life truly is a journey…a journey into understanding who we are. At a deeper level. Megan, you are beautifully traveling on this journey of YOU. So, this exploration into you is one that I deeply believe is revealing your true core, as it does for all of us as we take those courageous steps into our heart. Seeing you do this, and seeing the joy and love that blossoms from that is so deeply good.
So Megan…know that you have a beautiful gift of connecting with other people on a deep and meaningful level. And that is you, speaking so freely and openly what your heart is saying to you. I am touched, in so many ways, by this deeper part of you. And like Evita, I too am honored to call you a dear friend today…
Peace and love,
Lance
Hi Megan and Evita .. glad I’m here today .. I love your words that everything everyone else says to you, is you talking to yourself – that has resonated with me and I’ll remember that.
It’s so good to be here with you both and so many others exploring their paths and learning from each other .. I’m looking forward to my learning process and journey ahead – it is meaning so much already.
Great to be here as an evolving being – Hilary
Megan,
This is so fun learning more about you! I discovered Michael Beckwith before the secret and then watched him take off after that. We like him so much sometimes we go on Sunday to attend his service. The flight is less than an hour and it’s never crowded. We rent a car and come back in the evening. That church rocks! Even when he isn’t there he has some phenomenal speaker. I have stacks of CD’s that I ordered of his Sunday services years back in MI. I just gave some away last week. And his wife is the amazing singer. OMG! I got her “Chants for Joy” and can’t stop listening.
I’ve never thought of it that way…When I talk to my husband it’s really me talking to me…Because we’re all one it makes sense. I feel some new lessons coming on. Yikes, a wise friend years ago taught me to ask for “gentle lessons.”
Thanks for the insights I picked up from you…I mean me;) xo
Like Tess, I love the idea of another person talking to me is really me talking to me. I had to read that sentence a few times, but it finally clicked. Every time I’m talking to someone I’m the one processing the conversation. In essence it’s really me being able to process the words that come out of other people’s mouths. I can choose to look at a conversation as a chance to grow or I can be pessimistic and expect the worse. Whatever I’m looking for will happen.
Thank you Evita. Megan is a great person to highlight. I’m so glad I stopped by today.
Hi Evita! GREAT choice in guest! I love My Megan! :)
Hi My Megan! Great to see you here shining so brightly – cute photos too! I love how you share so warmly and openly, totally from the heart! Here you have spent so much energy looking for teachers and now YOU have become one!! Ya know, if everyone could just get your #1 point, we’d have a lot of really authentic people out there!
Hugs,
suZen
Megan
To begin with – thank you so much for sharing your story here with me and all of the readers. What can I say… I just love how beautiful you made life out and living to be. I can’t see it any other way.
I knew we had a lot in common and this story made me realize just how much! I too was a victim up to about 25 of the regular struggles and ups and downs of life, until something awoke within me and I simply said “enough”.
Today life is joyful and it is always amazing to share it with people like you who so thoroughly understand that beauty and joy.
Thank you for all your inspiring words and being the wonderful you that you are :)
@ LANCE – Yeah, we are lucky having Megan as a great friend, aren’t we :)
@ HILARY – It is indeed such a pleasure to have you here, thank you for sharing in Megan’s story.
@ TESS – Right on Tess, Megan reminded us all of something so profound. What we see in our lives is in fact mirroring ourselves and our states. I read this in the Diving Matrix too by Gregg Braden. And I have to tell you of all the things that I successfully “mastered” if I can say that to this point, that is one thing that I still all too often forget…. to truly look to the other to see what is happening within.
@ KARL – Totally my pleasure Karl! I am so happy you stopped by and thanks for the beautiful comment for Megan.
@ SUZEN – Hi Suzen, thank you – and how beautiful is that “My Megan” – that is so sweet to hear! Thank you for sharing in Megan’s story!
I love practicing with the knowledge that everything we see is a reflection of our Self and that we have manifested the Moment to interact with it in the Way we choose to.
By feeling we are responsible for what happens to us Now, we pay attention and love the Moment in a deeper and more compassionate way, where we are truly listening and merging with our environment and the constituents within it. We begin to respect everything that catches our eye….which then leads us down the path of the heart.
Oh Megan,
Your joy just jumps off this page! I love the radiant smiles you share with your photos and your words. The four bullet points are also mine; and I sometimes need reminding of them:) You continue to entertain, inspire, encourage, challenge me in so many ways…thank you for sharing as much as you do:) You certainly are an “evolving being in action” an example to all of us of how truly following your heart and living authentically is the recipe to utter joy:) (And sprinkle in a bit of chocolate..oh I meant wisdom-LOL :)
Much peace….
I am honored to count you among my friends…..pre and post age 25. Keep inspiring us all just by being you <3
Megan, I’ve been following your posts for a while and it’s wonderful to know a bit about your journey. Thanks!
Evita, this is such an honor, and I’m trhilled beyond words that you’ve featured me as February’s profile. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Your site features such rich content, and every time I’m here I learn more about myself through the things you write. ~Namaste~
Hi, Lance!
Thank you so much for everything you said. You have a way of reaching into me every time you speak, and warming every cell in my body with your love and thoughtfulness. On a soul level, I welcome you and everything you’re about into the totality of my being and think that someday, some way, I hope to be as connected and connective as you are. (*bow*)
These journeys we are all on are the gift that life offers us, and I couldn’t have said it any better than you did. I feel privileged, especially, to read the last sentence in your comment, and Lance, please know that I feel the exact same way about you. With tremendous love and respect…
Hi, Hilary!
I second what you’ve said: it IS great to be here as an evolving being, and those we connect with in these wonderful, loving and insightful ways help us quantum leap our way through the process of transcendence, I believe. I’m grateful for your good comment, and sending you tremendous love and joy!
Hi, Tess!
Wow, to actually attend Michael Beckwith’s services — that’s phenomenal! I wish it was a short car trip for me, too; I’d be all over that! I’m so glad you shared your connection to him with me. I might be pressing you for more details in the near future. (wink)
That one lesson I learned about “me talking to me” shifted me when I recognized what it meant. And now, I cannot go through any exchanges in my life without realizing that every time, without fail, I have created that conversation ahead of time out of my desire to learn more about who I am. The arguments, the compliments, the encouraging words…
And I LOVED (and smiled when I read it) your sign-off. Ha! That’s right, this was all YOU talking!
Hi, Karl!
(I initially typed your name “Lark” — I wonder what significance that holds?) What a great way to break down the concept of “me talking to me.” You have a good mind, and it serves you. Thank you for being here, and sharing your always infectious energy! Love and peace to you.
Hi, SuZen!
Awww, I love you, too, SuZen! (smile) You’re just the sweetest, and the kind things you’ve said here warmed my heart. Thank you!
You know, I was so honored to be here that I posted something on Facebook about it, and teased it with the promise that people could see me in a swimsuit. Never sure if that’s an attractive-type tease, or a repulsive-type tease, but there you have it!
I’m grateful for your friendship, and all the things you’ve taught me in the recent past. I think Steve (the teacher I referenced) has some serious competition in you!
~A big hug back~
Hi, Evita!
Thank you tremendously for having me here. It is my greatest privilege and has made February, a month I normally don’t look forward to, rather spectacular!
(And what a great audience you have – wow!)
Hi, Bern!
You write poetically, and I’m frequently in awe of your ability to express such lofty concepts so concisely. When I grow up, I want to write more like you! Thank you for sharing your good energy here; Namaste!
Hi, Joy!
No no, leave it at chocolate! (smile)
Joy, you must know that I feel the same way about you. Whenever I read about your journey, I’m enthralled. It’s like reading the best book, and having the pleasure of knowing it never ends. I feel such a connection with you, so everything you’ve said here touches me deeply. Thank you! All I could do was bow to you and your comment after reading it.
Here’s to eternal connectivity, love, joy, peace, inspiration, gentle challenges, and most of all FUN!
Hi, Heather!
Likewise, my timeless friend. Thank you!
And in case anyone wanted to know, Heather is among the few people who can actually say she’s seen me in a bathing suit – and it wasn’t that Snoopy one!
I’m so grateful you came here and shared a comment. Much love and joy to you!
Hi, Kaushik!
Thank you so much. Your support and love mean a great deal to me. I count you among my many welcomed reflections, for every time I read your words, I am able to peel more layers back and see deeper into myself.
Hi Megan and Evita,
Evita, I am blessed to be able to call Megan a friend and it is awesome that you chose to profile her!
Megan, congrats on being featured here! I know that your love for life and for joy are the real deal. I loved how you so much wanted a teacher and one appeared without any effort. Got to love the Universe!
May all your wishes and dreams come true! May you find what you seek and may your wisdom just multiply! :)
Hi, Nadia!
My gosh, my heart is overflowing today and I thank you for your love and kindness. (*bow*)
Being here as Evita’s guest is an honor, for sure. It’s a good day… er month!
Manifesting is something that’s near and dear to (speaking of) my heart, especially when it comes to people. All we ever need to do is ask – or FEEL that what we want is in our lives – and so it shall be.
Look who I’m telling that to, though! You know all of this, and that’s why I’m so excited to see what the next thing is you’re manifesting.
Knowing you, Nadia, makes me a better person. Thank you, my friend!
Megan
PS – Between you and Jodi at Joy Discovered, you ought to both send your quotes to Peggy for her upcoming Serendipity Smiles quote post. Your dream & wisdom wish for me felt inspired!
Megan,
It’s lovely that you share your story here with us. One of the most powerful teaching methods is teaching through action. By being the beautiful and joyful soul that you are, you’r energy naturally flows into the world, gently embracing all that is around you.
Wishing you a wonderful journey with your first book! May it be a stepping stone into many more new experiences.
Hi Megan and Evita,
As always, great to learn more about you. As I read through your words I’m reminded of a few recent moments where for no reason whatsoever I found myself smiling, at ease and purely content with the moment. That struck me in your words “Simply content to be alive”. After years of struggle (much like you said, anger, frustration) I do truly feel content, and know deep down all will be “ok”.
Good luck with the book, a magnificent accomplishment that I’m sure will bring you much joy!
Stacey
Oh Megan, there is a lot of wisdom here, all very profound and worth to give time to let it sink in.
I kind of realized that I am listening to filters, I hear what I want to hear or interpret it always in my way.
And now I can see that that is of course Me listening to Me.
Ha, that makes sense now.
Then we manifest, yes I know I do it with some things but I am stuck with others.
Oh Megan, isn’t it wonderful to be on this journey that is so fantastic and I love how your sharing allows me to get clarity.
I too love the photos and to hear more about you.
And I love the comments from the others, xox Wilma
Hi, Stacey!
Thank you for being here, and leaving such a beautiful comment. I’ll take learning from doing over conceptualizing any day. Well said! And many thanks for your well wishes on the book. I very much appreciate your positive, encouraging energy!
Hi, Stacey (II)!!
A feeling of pure contentedness — what a grand thing! Smiling for no reason is one of my favorite things to do. Yesterday I was in a parking lot and looked up into the grayish sky and unexpectedly found a patch of blue which unleasehd a huge wave of gratitude throughout me as I smiled and mouthed, “Thank you” to Mother Earth.
Thank you for your comment, and helping spread inner joy to others through everything you do!
Hi, Wilma!
Your heart is as big as the sun; thank you for your wonderful comment! That speaking/listening thing stops a lot of people and opens them up to a new facet of themselves. I’m always intrigued when I hear about how someone makes it work for them. And manifesting — YES! I’ve had times when I felt like I could manifest certain things in certain parts of my life, but not in others. That shifted for me last year, and it’s been a beautiful dance, allowing myself to get into rhythm with it.
I so appreciate all of your good comments every time you leave one, and once again, feel as though I’m being hugged by you. So on that note, a big hug back!
Love & joy to you, my friend!

I love your message that everything is possible. It seems like *that* is the big secret that so many people are missing out on! But it’s so true -everything *is* possible, you just have to think it, believe it, and act on it. How many conversations have I had with skeptics, you know.. that are so full of excuses and cynicism. It’s amazing, I recall a relative telling me “well what if I wanted to be a 7 foot tall basketball player? See, not everything is possible.” So, maybe they have a point? Or maybe they don’t have a point at all! Maybe all it takes is a belief. How many of us *really believe* we could transform ourselves physically through the simple act of thinking it? None of us, I’d say. But what if the key is the belief? The truth is, maybe we really don’t know the full potential of what lies within. Maybe we’re afraid of the power?
